The aim of WLR’s K-1 program is to meet the developmental needs of our youngest students. WLR recognizes that families choose home education for a variety of reasons that may include the desire to ensure a safe, secure learning environment where the young child can flourish. The home is an ideal setting for this purpose. In addition, parents may desire a supplemental program that gives young students the opportunity to socialize, make friends and learn in a supportive, nurturing atmosphere away from home. WLR K-1 programs offer a heart-centered approach to the magical age of early learning and are designed to meet the social interests of young children, ages 4-7. Children will engage in nurturing experiences that honor each child's development, with a focus on love, respect and wonder. Joyful interactions through play, songs, story, music and seasonal themes gently lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
First Grade Considerations If your child is in first grade, our K-1 program may be the best fit, especially for younger first graders. However, we also have other classes for 1st graders. Most of these are either Grades 1-3 or Grades 1-4 and are about 50 minutes in length. You know your child best. Be sure to review the other class descriptions pages to determine which are most appropriate for you child.
Learning is Fun! K-1 (Sacramento location) Free play and exploration of themed stations welcome the children on Thursday mornings in Ms. Ciana Keller's class at our Sacramento location. The young students joyfully take part in various jobs each week and join together for songs and story during circle time. A short nature walk is an integral part of the weekly rhythm. Children engage in nurturing experiences that honor each child's development, with a focus on love, respect and wonder. Through movement, rhythm and exploration, we gently lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. If your child has special needs or requires parental support while in class, please contact the WLR Program Director as we have limited space in class for extra adults. Double-period class, just under two hours. Be sure to indicate any serious food or other allergies on the Registration form. Creative Children's Yoga (Sacramento location) Let the fun continue after lunch recess.
